Adecom runs two types of actions. First through networking, Adecom has local partner associations that works directly on the field. Second it is directly involved in local projects.
Partner network: 16 districts in Tamil Nadu and 8 communes in Pondicherry.
- Land rights movement: It was created in 2006 for XXX.
- Educational activities for children it was created in 2007 for.
- Dalit forum is organized monthly to discuss about Dalit concerns, and human violations. They prepare programs and budgets for Dalit community to implement proper scheme.
Direct Adecom Actions :
- Kootu-k-kural: This project exists since 1992 and in 1998 it joins Adecom Netwok. It is the cultural arm of Adecom and through Dalit culture and arts aims at eliminating social discrimination. Performances, rehearsals and street presentations are their main actions.
- Women rationalistic movement: In 2002 this movement was created in response to women’s need such as housing, lands rights, and more general women rights.
- Parimatram: Adecom staff publishes quarterly a magazine to shares, interacts, and communicate its actions and those of its local partner groups and units. Articles are written in Tamil and English.
- Alternative Education: Adecom has designed a complete program of education to improve Dalit’s child education, in particular those who are school dropouts and child workers. This program needs financial and material support to open education centers and carry on the education program.
- Kuzanthaigal Koothrarangam: This program was launched in 2000 for children between 8 and 14 years. Through theatre lessons, intercultural activities and arts, children’s concerns are handled. This program is jointly managed by Adecom and Kootu-k-kural.
- Navayana: this project aims at the education on spiritual beliefs and on Ambedkar’s version of Buddhism. It was launched in 2006. (Mr. Ramesh is incharged.)
- Training lessons are organized currently for Adecom staff, local partners and volunteers. Issues such as team building, communication skills, and computer training are studied on training sessions either by Adecom staff on Tamil language or by foreigns through a partnership with the French NGO Planete Urgence.
