What we do

Focus on empowerment

Oppressed women need the confidence and skills to tackle discrimination and fight for their rights. We train women from oppressed communities to become strong leaders, able to drive positive change at the local level.

Through our capacity development and training programmes, we focus on enabling women to set the agendas for progress in their areas. We encourage them to work together to improve their communities. This includes securing better land rights, access to education and higher incomes.

Ensure access to support

We aim to have a physical presence in the communities that need support. Our team members meet women’s groups and leaders in their villages and areas on a weekly basis. They help them to stay on-track, bringing in additional support when required.

We offer services to local women at three sites.

From our headquarters in the town of Puducherry, we provide free training programmes to women and young people from local slum areas.

Our Village Training Centre in Utchimedu enables us to provide tailoring and IT training right in the heart of rural Tamil Nadu.

From our Field Office in Villianur, Puducherry, a full-time team of activists supports women and young people from the surrounding rural area. We also provide vocational training programmes here.
